While most lawmakers’ attention was riveted Monday on the testimony of two key witnesses on the progress of the Iraq war, Rep. Gene Taylor was one of the few asking questions.
Taylor, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, said he did not see “Iraqis at the table” when he visited coalition headquarters in Iraq. Taylor asked Army Gen. David Petraeus, lead ground commander in Iraq, when Iraqi troops would be ready to take over from U.S. and coalition forces.
I would like you to enlighten me on a target date,” Taylor said.
