Barbour: Ethics Commission says blind trust legal

With Hood being the brother of Democratic Attorney General Jim Hood, a frequent Barbour critic, and Wheeler being the law partner of Democratic lieutenant governor nominee Jamie Franks, those questions addressed one set of political conspiracy theories about the genesis of the Bloomberg stories. There are others.

My Sunday column addresses the facts surrounding these stories. To date, Barbour has not been accused of any criminal or ethical violations. Hood and the Ethics Commission confirmed today, with Barbour’s written permission, that the Ethics Commission indeed had long ago approved Barbour’s blind trust disclosures as meeting the requirements of current state law.
The story also confirms officially that Barbour is not currently the target of an Ethics Commission complaint.
