One House race shows sea change in the state
The Republican primary in House District 84 pits five candidates against each other for the right to face a Democrat and an independent in the November general election to choose a successor to retiring state Rep. Eric Robinson, R-Quitman, in Clarke, Jasper, Lauderdale and Newton counties.
The Democratic nominee is William Lee of Stonewall. The independent is Cecil “Matt” Hemphill of Meridian.
The four Republican contenders include David “Tad” Campbell of Bailey, Hugh Davis of Meridian, William E. Shirley Jr. of Quitman and C.D. Smith of Meridian.
Good candidates, every one.
