Lott, Cochran help defeat Iraq troop withdrawal plan
Sens. Trent Lott and Thad Cochran voted against ending debate on a measure that would mandate the beginning of a pullout in 120 days.
The 52-47 vote fell short of the 60 votes needed to end the filibuster, or extended debate, that is blocking an up-or-down vote on the measure – an amendment to a massive defense bill.
