Hosemann calls for change in school funding formula, cites benefit to DeSoto
An antiquated formula is preventing DeSoto and 44 other North Mississippi school districts from receiving equitable “Chickasaw Cession” school funding, Delbert Hosemann, a Republican candidate for secretary of state, said Tuesday.
Campaigning in DeSoto County, Hosemann called for a state law change to modify the formula. He said the move would provide DeSoto schools with more than $400,000 in additional state school funds annually.
