Beasley Denson, who challenged longtime Chief Phillip Martin to lead the Mississippi Choctaws, seemed to clinch the head tribal seat with a modest lead Wednesday evening, according to unofficial results.
Denson, a former vice chief, emerged with a 184-vote lead, but the Tribal Election Committee had not finished counting the challenged ballots, or votes tribal members cast in polling places other than where their names were listed.
