The Jackson City Council deadlocked 3-3 on efforts to appoint a president on Tuesday, leaving Frank Bluntson at the helm until a Ward 1 councilman can be elected in an Aug. 14 special election.
Ward 2 Councilman Leslie McLemore was nominated by Marshand Crisler of Ward 6 to be the president, but the vote failed as only Ward 7 Councilwoman Margaret Barrett-Simon voted with them.
Bluntson’s nomination got the support of Ward 3 Councilman Kenneth Stokes and Ward 5 Councilman Charles Tillman.
