Jackson Mayor Frank Melton said Monday he saw cops all over the city over the weekend, evidence that his crime plan is working.
Skepticism over the mayor’s plans runs rampant, according to interviews Monday. There still are no specifics on how the city will secure more jail space, and details on how to get more police officers on the 400-plus person force are yet to be worked out.
Melton announced his plans Friday, including a series of surveillance cameras, a more active SWAT team, allowing police overtime, recruiting officers and holding night court.
