4 on council: No more pay for rejected dept. heads

By: Magnolia Tribune - May 25, 2007

The Clarion-Ledger, 5/25/7

Two candidates for department directors who were rejected by the Jackson City Council won’t be paid again in their current positions, a majority of the council said Thursday.

The council on Tuesday voted to withhold paychecks from Todd Chandler, who was rejected as fire chief but continues to direct the Fire Department as assistant chief. The other was Charles Melvin, who was rejected as supervisor of Parks and Recreation but still directs the department under the title of assistant chief administrative officer.
