Board members voted Tuesday night to accept nearly $6 million in disaster recovery funds to begin several ambitious citywide projects proposed by Mayor Connie Moran.
Gov. Haley Barbour awarded the funds to the city for showing initiative toward improving the quality of life and demonstrating a commitment to local recovery projects. The grant is funded through a Community Development Block Grant and approved by the Mississippi Development Authority.
