Next round: Hood v. State Farm

Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood argues in court papers filed late Friday that State Farm has failed to abide by an agreement he reached with the company to establish a “fair and prompt procedure” for re-evaluation of Coast Katrina claims.

As a result, he is once again asking that he be allowed to intervene in a federal court case meant to establish settlement guidelines for 35,000 State Farm policyholders in three Coast counties. Hood said he is seeking from U.S. District Judge L.T. Senter Jr. “specific performance by State Farm of its contractual duty to present this Court with a fair, balanced and reasonable class-action settlement.”
