State Auditor Phil Bryant knows how to warm up an audience. Before delivering a speech Tuesday to a meeting of the Lowndes County Republican Women, the Republican lieutenant governor hopeful promised to send the organization $500.
Although he made no cash offers, former Columbus Mayor Jeffrey Rupp also addressed the gathering. Rupp, a Republican candidate for secretary of state, told the LCRW that he would take a hardline approach to preventing voter fraud.

US and China take a step back from sky-high tariffs, agree to pause for 90 days
The U.S. has agreed to drop its 145% tariff rate on Chinese goods by 115 percentage points to 30%, while China has agreed to lower its rate on U.S. goods by the same amount to 10%.
