Man dies in shootout with Jackson police
Police this morning may have shot and killed a Jackson man who broke into a woman’s home at 124 Owsley Street in west Jackson shortly after 7 a.m. and shot a police officer who responded to the call.
Officers shot at Marvin Stamps, 30, a few minutes after 9 a.m. at 136 Owsley Street, said Jackson Police Commander Lee Vance.
Stamps then ran into a storage shed near the home, behind at house at 136 Owsley, where shots were exchanged and Stamps was killed.
