Candidate urges citizen patrols

Ward 5 candidates went from the smallest problems – unclogging drainage basins – to large plans to knock down crime but still left room for jabs at each other during a forum Monday.

About 110 people shuffled into the Provine High School auditorium. Incumbent Bettye Dagner-Cook faces challengers Chris Gray, Kesha Evans, Charles H. Tillman, Carl “Moses” Rankin and Charles L. Alexander for the four-year post that pays $25,000 annually.
