Cop killer’s gun tied to felon
An ex-con who served time for sexual assault and burglary is believed to have sold Omar Hampton the stolen gun used to kill Jackson Police officer Thomas Catchings last month, according to a court document.
The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms & Explosives has charged Jessie James Powell of Jackson with being a felon in possession of a firearm and being a felon in possession of a stolen firearm.
