A political lesson in voter responsibility
On Friday, March 4, 2005, a motley parade of 33 candidates assembled to do battle for the entrusted privilege of serving the citizens of Jackson. By doing so, candidates claim to be fit for public office and are willing to subject themselves to public review.
Among combatants are experienced officeholders, well intended office seekers, perennial runners, neophytes, a few slugs ? some coming from the woodwork, while others magically appeared out of thin air. However, voters must select the most competent candidate.
