Federal attorney was on AG ‘hit list’
The Clarion-Ledger, 5/18/7 U.S. Attorney Dunn Lampton, who serves in Jackson, was reportedly on a 2005 list of U.S. attorneys the Justice Department wanted to fire. The list, first published by The Washington Post, named 13 U.S. attorneys. It has been attributed to Kyle Sampson, then U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales’ chief of staff.
