US inflation worsened last month as the cost of gas, food and airfares jumped

Consumer prices rose 2.9% in August from a year earlier, the Labor Department said Tuesday, up from 2.7% the previous month and the biggest increase since January.

U.S. supply chain prices unexpectedly fell 0.1% in August

The Labor Department reported Wednesday that its producer price index showed that wholesale inflation decelerated in August after advancing 0.7% in July.
