SEC football preview: Georgia, LSU cream of the crop
http://blog.al.com/spotnews/2008/06/sec_football_preview_georgia_i.html
The 2007 SEC Championship Game MVP is gone. That would be quarterback Ryan Perrilloux.
So is the other quarterback, Matt Flynn, the late-game superhero who meant even more to his LSU team than Perrilloux, who's now at Jacksonville State after getting the boot from Les Miles.
A bunch of other names of note are gone, too -- Early Doucet and Jacob Hester from the offense and Glenn Dorsey, Ali Highsmith, Craig Steltz and Chevis Jackson on defense. They're on NFL rosters now.
They're gone and -- reading between the lines with Miles -- forgotten.
And fans won't let the Tigers, who finished 12-2 and won the national championship, rest on their laurels.
"There's an understanding here that our football team, year-in and year-out, can be pretty strong," said Miles. "The bar for next year is set very high."
But the Tigers will hurdle at least the first obstacle, according to voters in The Birmingham News' 62nd annual spring SEC Football Preview. Miles' Tigers are the pick of the Southeastern Conference Western Division sports information directors to win the division again.
