Congressman Guest Votes Against Bill Designed to Block Second Amendment Rights

By: Sarah Ulmer - February 28, 2019

Wednesday, Congressman Guest voted against the Democrat authored H.R. 8 that would limit the ability for law-abiding citizens to purchase and possess firearms for self-defense.

Congressman Guest reaffirmed his dedication to protecting the Second Amendment with his vote against this bill. “This bill ignores obvious and straightforward steps to reducing gun violence and instead attempts to reduce the ability for law-abiding citizens to defend themselves,” Guest said in a statement. “This bill fails completely in its attempt to reduce violence by neglecting to address the root causes of mass shootings – including the mental health crisis – and instead creates a system that will make it harder for law-abiding citizens to protect themselves.”

Congressman Guest said that he is willing to discuss solutions that address the root causes of mass violence with his Democratic colleagues.
