Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann has asked churches across the state to ring their bells in support of healthcare workers and those who have been infected by the coronavirus.
He asked that churches join together to ring their bells for one minute everyday beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, April 6. However, the request wasn’t just for churches. Hosemann has also asked individuals to go to their front yards and ring any bells they may have at the same time, to show support.
The request, Hosemann said, is an attempt to unify Mississippians in sound and spirit” by showing support for the individuals on the frontlines of this pandemic. He said he spent time calling members from all denominations across the state to ask them to participate in this bell ringing.
“Every one of them was on board immediately,” said Hosemann. “There will be bells ringing all over Mississippi.”
