Recruiting: Quick start has Texas on top
As of Monday, national signing day is 100 days away and classes are starting to fill out. Here’s a look at which college football programs are already faring well, along with some key names to remember for the future:

1. Texas (23 commitments)
Top recruit: RB Malcolm Brown, Cibolo (Texas)
Targeted: RB Aaron Green, San Antonio (Texas)
Noteworthy: The Longhorns locked up the majority of its 2011 class in the spring, and now can afford to be picky with who they take next.

2. Alabama (19)
Top recruit: DB Ha’sean Clinton-Dix, Orlando (Fla.)
Targeted: OL Cyrus Kouandjio, Hyattsville (Md.)
Noteworthy: Alabama is in the running for just about every top uncommitted prospect in the country. Texas, watch out.

3. Notre Dame (19)
Top recruit: DE Stephon Tuitt, Monroe (Ga.)
Targeted: DB Wayne Lyons, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.)
Noteworthy: Brian Kelly has proven he can haul in talent. The question is, how soon will it pay dividends on the field?
