Kentucky football upsets Steve Spurrier-led South Carolina 31-28
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Joker Phillips feigned composure as he met the media on Saturday night.
His University of Kentucky football team had just stunned No. 10 South Carolina 31-28. Fans still flooded the Commonwealth Stadium field in celebration, but Phillips faked detachment, listing off the bumps and bruises on his postgame injury report.
Then he let his guard down.
“I’m still shaking,” Phillips said.
It was that kind of night.
Mike Hartline’s touchdown pass to Randall Cobb with 1:15 to play capped a comeback from 18 points down, and Anthony Mosley’s interception in the end zone with four seconds on the clock sealed the biggest victory so far in Phillips’ first year on the job.
