What resulted was a 47-24 win and a dominating first three quarters that featured a “40-3 run,” as Mullen described it, in a game of contrasting styles.
“It’s no secret we want to be a run, play-action football team,” Mullen said. “Right now, that’s where we’ve been the most successful. Having a big night like (Saturday) certainly adds to the confidence, but we need to do that consistently week in and week out.”
Mullen described the practices leading up to the Houston trip as the best of the season. The offense was obviously clicking as a result Saturday and piled up 538 yards of offense – the third game with at least 500 yards for MSU this season.
