SATURDAY’S venture to Auburn will not be the first big-time rodeo for South Carolina under Steve Spurrier. During his six seasons here, Spurrier’s club has played before more than 100,000 fans at Tennessee and made a good account of itself in front of rabid Florida fans at The Swamp in Gainesville.
Still, not since 2005 has USC played in an atmosphere quite like what it will face at Auburn’s Jordan-Hare Stadium. That was the last time USC visited Auburn, and what Gamecocks fan has forgotten how difficult it was for USC’s offense to get a play off to start the game.
