Since its inception in 1996, the Big 12 has won three football national titles and played in five national championship games on the losing end.
That’s more title game appearances in that span than even the vaunted Southeastern Conference, although the SEC has distinguished itself by winning the national championship the last four years — including the last two at the expense of the Big 12.
