Rebels’ veteran defense gives offense fits

“The defense got after us today,” UM coach Houston Nutt said. “We couldn’t make a first down.”

Nutt gave most of the credit to the defense, which features seniors such as Jerrell Powe, Jonathan Cornell and Johnny Brown.

But he was frustrated because of some center-quarterback exchange issues on the snap, something that both Nutt and co-offensive coordinator Mike Markuson deemed unacceptable at this point in the preseason.
