With Varnado, White, drought should end for Bulldogs, Rebels

A Mississippi State player hasn’t been taken in either of the draft’s two rounds since Lawrence Roberts in 2005, and the last Rebel to be drafted was Justin Reed of Jackson in 2004.

Varnado, who set the NCAA Division I record for blocked shots at State, will watch the draft at a party in a hotel in Jackson, Tenn., not far from where he grew up. Asked how many were expected to be there, his father, Winston, simply said the room holds 130.
