Ex-MSU AD Templeton provides counsel to league

The foundation paid Templeton $157,835 between July 1, 2008, and June 30, 2009, Internal Revenue documents show, though Templeton’s tenure as athletic director ended 19 days prior to the start of the fiscal year.

In its annual IRS filing, which was obtained by The Clarion-Ledger, Templeton was labeled as a “former executive director” and actually received more from the foundation than did the AD at the time, Byrne.

Byrne was paid $125,000 from the foundation, supplementing his $175,000 salary from the athletic department.

MSU officials declined to comment on why Templeton was paid by the Bulldog Foundation a year after leaving the school.
