C-USA champion USM rejects underdog role
USM found out on Monday that its eighth straight regional will be in the SEC environment of Auburn, Ala., where it will be the No. 3 seed.
The Golden Eagles will be joined by No. 1 Auburn, No. 2 Clemson and No. 4 Jacksonville State.
USM will open tournament play at 2 p.m. on Friday against the Clemson Tigers at Plainsman Park.
