Hail, yes! Credit Rich Rod for a perfect opener
For 3 1/2 hours Saturday afternoon, all seemed normal in Ann Arbor.
Another Mid-American Conference opponent was so thoroughly pounded into submission that once the fourth quarter arrived, many Michigan fans could get a head start on the postgame tailgate tradition of a nice Sonoma Valley chardonnay accentuating a pungent, yet savory brie.
Now, THAT’S Michigan football.
And many might actually have raised a toast to Rich Rodriguez — possibly for the first time.
He finally gave them something that made them comfortable with its familiarity — a physically bruising, stingy defense that would have pasted a wide smile on Bo Schembechler’s face.
