Whether the Wildcat offense is a gimmicky fad or an offensive tool that’s here to stay may be debatable, but it certainly seems to have some staying power in the SEC.
The offense, a variation on the old single-wing set that was updated and popularized several years ago by Arkansas under Houston Nutt, has spawned several copycat schemes around the conference and in the NFL. This year, many coaches are using it as a way to get talented freshmen some touches.
