Both placed this week’s overheated controversy behind them, leaving the focus on what really matters for Papelbon: carrying a larger load as the season enters its final month.
“Last year at this time, I think we were just starting to say we were going to lean on him a little bit because he had a lot left in the tank,’’ manager Terry Francona said. “That’s kind of how we feel now.’’
