Melick: Alabama athletics recession proof?
It’s been an uncomfortable couple of weeks if your business is college athletes.
The athletic department that has been the gold standard for NCAA revenue, Ohio State, announced it is expecting a $1.5 million shortfall this year.
Florida State’s athletic department projected ticket revenues to be down $1.5 million, instituted a hiring freeze and is considering busing instead of flying to nearby games – which the University of Miami has already announced its football team will do next year in an effort to cut costs.
