OU’s struggling defense needs to stand up against Tech

In the early days of October, they were rambling along, swallowing quarterbacks like State Fair corn dogs and halting ball carriers in their tracks.
With its big-play defense and its Heisman candidate quarterback, Oklahoma looked like a national championship contender just six weeks ago.
But with 11:40 left in the third quarter against Texas, it all changed.
The game. The dream. The season. And the defense. Especially the defense.

The Sooners were leading the Texas Longhorns, 28-20, when a UT lineman fell on Oklahoma middle linebacker Ryan Reynolds, tearing ligaments in Reynolds’ right knee and costing him the rest of his junior season. Texas outscored Oklahoma 25-7 after Reynolds left the game.
