Boivin: Pennell brings calming influence
It should no longer be about finger pointing, about determining who put the nasty in dynasty. The 2008-09 Arizona men’s basketball season should be about healing, and that is reason enough to feel good about Russ Pennell’s role as interim coach.
He does not have Lute Olson’s experience, connections or presence. He does have a reputation for working hard and shooting straight and right now the Wildcats, who open the season Monday against Florida Atlantic, need that more than anything.
“I was just telling my dad,” former Arizona State guard Kyle Dodd said, “if there’s anyone who can handle this craziness, it’s Coach P.”
