OXFORD, Miss. – Kodi Burns completed a career-high number of passes to a career-high number of receivers for a career-high number of yards.
It only figures that in Auburn’s hugely disappointing season, all of that goodness would barely dent the scoreboard. Mississippi beat Auburn 17-7 Saturday in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium to hand the Tigers their fourth-straight loss in a season that continues to spin toward an unsatisfying finish.
By game’s end, Auburn had to answer for costly penalties, costly interceptions – and coach Tommy Tuberville’s job security. The coach who had never lost in Oxford to the team he coached from 1995 to 1998 fell to a 4-5 overall record and a 2-4 mark in the Southeastern Conference.
