Bulldogs kicking game: Punter McAdams putting his focus on consistency
STARKVILLE – Ideally, the perfect game for a punter would be averaging 70 yards a punt with a 6.5 hang time and no return.
Of course, that’s just wishful thinking.
Still, Mississippi State’s Blake McAdams can dream, right?
“No question I’ll take that. Every time,” he said laughing. “Seriously, though, you’d like to be consistent with 40-45 yard punts with a 4.3 or 4.5 hang time. That might not be a perfect kick, but it’s pretty good.
“That’s what I aim for, and if it’s better, then I’ll take it.”
The 5-foot-10, 190-pound Ripley, Tenn., native admitted his biggest problem last year was consistency.
So to combat that issue, he spent every day kicking football after football. At the end of his workouts, though, the concentration heightened.
