PARRISH ALFORD:Ole Miss offense will adapt
OXFORD – Former Ole Miss coach Ed Orgeron often pointed to 2008 as his team’s breakout season.
Uh oh.
He believed he had the missing link on offense, a bona fide SEC quarterback, just as soon as Jevan Snead’s transfer year was behind him.
Now Snead, the former Texas Longhorn, is eligible, and he had a strong finish to his first week of August camp, capping things with a 12-for-16, 216-yard performance in Saturday’s scrimmage.
He was going against the No. 2 defense, but it was an impressive day regardless, and a day I imagine that was quite different from an August practice at Arkansas a year ago.
One of the first questions asked of Houston Nutt when he was hired last November was what type of offense he thought he might run.
Many Ole Miss fans may have disagreed with Orgeron on a lot of things, but most were in his corner regarding their excitement for Snead.
