Statement by MSGOP Chairman Joe Nosef
on Election Results 2015
“It was a good night for Mississippi because it was a good night for Republicans.”
Jackson. MSGOP Chairman Joe Nosef made the following statement on Election Night, November 3, 2015:
Tonight was a historically successful night for the Republican Party but an even better night for Mississippi.
All our statewide incumbents won re-election from our Governor on down. In fact, Governor Bryant won with the highest percentage of any Republican in modern history, even breaking the record he set four years ago.
We expanded our majorities in both the House and the Senate, and picked up Republicans in local offices all across our state. Finally, we defeated the Democrat Party’s last chance at a victory by tricking voters – Initiative 42.
All of this is a sound testament to the excellent stewardship of tax dollars and public trust by our Governor and all our other GOP officials.
Mike Hurst was a great candidate and ran a good campaign. Republicans were unified and strong behind him. But, the fact of the matter is that it’s hard to beat a three-term incumbent. And, even with some last-minute dirty politics by the Democrat Party and the power of incumbency on Hood’s side, Mike Hurst still came real close.
All in all, Mississippi said NO to the party of Hillary Clinton and Socialist Bernie Sanders.
We’re going red to the roots in Mississippi because Republican values are Mississippi values.
Mississippi Republicans are unified and energized and committed to making a difference not just in our state but for our nation. And, you will see us stand together and strong as we look to take back the White House in 2016.
