Two Jackson County supervisors out, two precarious amid hospital debacle
Longtime Jackson County Supervisor John McKay conceded the District 5 race early, based on exit poll numbers, leaving former sheriff’s deputy Randy Bosarge to advance to the November general election in a major upset. Running third in that race was Louie Miller.
Two-term incumbent Supervisor Mike Mangum in District 3 failed to get enough votes to be in the runoff. Vying for his job in an Aug. 25 Republican runoff will be former Pascagoula Police Chief Mike Whitmore, who got 26 percent of the vote, and former Gautier Mayor Ken Taylor, with 30 percent.
Two other incumbents, District 1 Supervisor Barry Cumbest and District 4 Supervisor Troy Ross, will face opponents in the Aug. 25 Republican runoffs.
