Incumbent Coast legislators move on to General Election

..State Sen. Michael Watson was cruising past Butch Loper in the District 51 GOP primary and Sen. Deborah Dawkins won the Democratic Party and will face Republican Walter Crapps in the general.

The only open seat, the Distrct 27 seat held by Tony Smith who ran for Public Service Commission, appeared headed to a runoff on the GOP side. Democrat Jimmy L. “Bo” Alwine awaits the winner in the general election.

Democrat Jeramey Anderson also won election outright with a victory over Mitch Ellerby in District 110 in Jackson County. Other incumbents appeared to be headed to primary victories.
