Ocean Springs Mayor Connie Moran pays an extra two mills in taxes — voluntarily
OCEAN SPRINGS, Mississippi — Ocean Springs Mayor Connie Moran has been pushing for her city’s board of aldermen, which is currently in its annual budgeting process, to put back the two mills it cut from the budget five years ago.
Now, she’s put her money where her mouth is.
Recently, Moran wrote a check payable to the City of Ocean Springs in the amount of $63.02 — the amount which would be generated for the city if an extra two mills in property tax were levied on her historic Washington Avenue home.
