Politicians address Mississippi’s future at Neshoba County Fair

Guns, drugs, “Tater tots” and looking out for taxpayers were the main topics as several Mississippi politicians told a crowd at the Neshoba County Fair what they’ve done for them lately.

“I promised to stop burdening taxpayers with long-term debt for short-term needs,” said Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves in his 11th address to the storied fair, which is celebrating its 124th year. “You don’t do that in your home and your government shouldn’t do it, either.”

Reeves embraced a term Wednesday that he admitted had irked him: “Tater tots.” Many folks around the Capitol call his Senate leadership team the Tater tots. Reeves used that theme throughout his speech.
