Sen. Harry Reid: Hurricane Katrina ‘was nothing in comparison’ to Sandy
Hurricane Katrina “was nothing in comparison” to Hurricane Sandy, U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., said in a speech on the Senate floor Friday.
Reid, the Senate Majority Leader, was urging approval of an aid package for victims of Sandy, a Category 1 storm that struck the Atlantic coast in late October. Katrina was a Category 5 storm that struck the Gulf Coast in 2005.
“The people of New Orleans in that area, they were hurt,” Reid said. “But nothing in comparison to what happened to the people in New York and New Jersey.”
