Teachers, administrators divided over merit pay
Oak Grove Upper Elementary fourth-grade math teacher Cindy Ricks says she and her fellow teachers put in a lot of extra time with students who need help with their work.
“When we have children that are struggling, we may help them out at recess, we may help them out before school,” she said. “That’s not something that can be measured.”
Ricks is concerned because Gov. Phil Bryant recently has been talking about teacher merit pay – giving bonuses to high performing teachers.
