Bryant, officials laud response to Isaac
Gov. Phil Bryant on Wednesday touted the state’s response to Hurricane Isaac, which brought long-lasting winds, heavy rains and flooding to the Coast. He also said President Barack Obama has pledged federal support for recovery efforts.
Bryant held a news conference with officials from the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, National Weather Service and others. He said that before the news conference, he had ridden along the Coast — the seventh anniversary of Hurricane Katrina — and some of what he saw reminded him of the much more powerful and deadly storm that struck Mississippi and the Gulf Coast in 2005.
