Wilbourn – Billy McCoy the reason Miss. can’t pass Conservative bills

Mississippi is one of the most politically conservative states in the nation. But despite a Republican governor and lieutenant governor and a Republican-controlled Senate, the Mississippi House of Representatives has continued to be controlled by Democrats. Richard Wilbourn, chairman of the Move the House Committee of the Mississippi Tea Party, tells OneNewsNow that the most powerful Democrat has been Speaker Billy McCoy, who has wielded tremendous power in Jackson.

“He has prevented a lot of conservative legislation from passing the House,” Wilbourn says. “The immigration bill was passed by the Senate. It was an Arizona-style immigration law — and it just died in the House. That was Billy McCoy single handedly blocking that.”
