AT&T asks court to toss Sprint, Cell South suits

AT&T filed motions Friday in the U.S. District Court to dismiss lawsuits by Sprint and Cellular South that seek to block the AT&T/T-Mobile deal.

The lawsuits “are an obvious attempt to use the court to improve their own strategic interests,” Wayne Watts, senior executive vice president and general counsel of AT&T, said in a statement.

. . .

“Today’s motion by AT&T is routine and expected,” said Eric Graham, head of government relations for Cellular South/C Spire Wireless. “We’re pleased Judge Huvelle required AT&T to file this motion quickly so that the actions to block this transaction could proceed expeditiously.”
