Reeves takes exception to opponent’s chihuahua ad
Editor’s note: The Clarion-Ledger editorial board has invited candidates for lieutenant governor and governor to discuss their campaigns. Stories will run as candidates appear at the meetings.
State Treasurer Tate Reeves says he doesn’t want to be negative in his campaign for lieutenant governor, but he can’t help but address a chihuahua ad about him.
In a television commercial, Reeves’ GOP rival, Sen. Billy Hewes, appears to depict Reeves as a tiny, yapping dog, calling him “some watchdog.”
The ad alleges that Reeves has mismanaged the state’s college savings and pension funds – charges the Reeves camp denies.
